Un des meilleurs livres de fiction que j'aie jamais lus - la fin de chaque chapitre on a hte de connatre la suite. Histoire d'un moine irlandais du 9e et 10e sicles choisi pour rejoindre un plerinage Byzance, mais le nombre d'aventures en chemin permet d'avoir un aperu de plusieurs civilisations (l'auteur semble avoir pris la peine de faire des recherches srieuses pour tre historiquement authentique, et il dcrit bien la psychologie des personnages) et du dbut la fin le hros essaie de comprendre le sens du mal et de la souffrance. Il faut absolument lire le livre jusqu' la fin.
